Get marketing news you'll actually want to read

The email newsletter guaranteed to bring you the latest stories shaping the marketing and advertising world, like only the Brew can.

Long-tail, native content. Cloud-based brand awareness flywheel. B2B big data visibility.

If you subscribe to this newsletter, you’re probably familiar with the word salad of the marketing industry, and let’s be honest with ourselves: None of those words means anything—but we won’t tell your clients that.

Should you run out of inspiration, the Marketing Gibberish Generator is here to save the day. Simply hit the button and a stream of marketing consciousness is published.

Our favorites so far:

  • “snackable cross-device content”
  • “disruptive tech viral learnings wearables”
  • “fanbassador”

Created in 2015 by Column Five, a creative marketing agency, it’s still spitting out word vomit at prodigious rates.

“You just hear so many crazy jargony words and sentences that it becomes a second language,” Travis Keith, an account director at Column Five, told us. “To a normal person, it probably sounds like the most horrendous sentence ever uttered by a human being.”

The generator is a database made up of 500 actual words scraped from C5 emails and pitch meetings. Six years later, the generator still resonates.

“I’m still having the same conversation, I'm still hearing the same crazy words, but now it's just like, you know, Bitcoin,” Keith said.

If you’ve got a favorite marketing expression that causes a tension headache, hit reply and we’ll compile them for the newsletter. — RB
